THE GOSPEL LIGHT MINUTE X
with Daniel Whyte III

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of this gospel tract that has been read by thousands around the world.

The Lord gave me the mind to write this tract when I was a young evangelist nearly 25 years ago. From the time the Lord saved me out of religious church tradition, I had a burden for "my kindred according to the flesh" because I felt that many of them were religious and lost just like I was -- in church every Sunday, but on my way to hell. See, I came out of a very religious church background, from both the Baptist and Pentecostal/Holiness traditions.
hcsp.jpgWhitney Houston's sudden death came as a shock to the world. As her music and beautiful voice filled the airwaves in subsequent days, many reflected on the life that was and the life that could have been if right choices had been made. Her short life left many reflecting on their lives. Though Whitney's life was triumphant, it was also tragic, and there are many things that can be learned from her life.

Essence national bestselling author, Daniel Whyte III, along with his wife, Meriqua Whyte, and his eldest daughter, Daniella Whyte, have written a new book titled The Greatest Love of All: Takeaways from the Triumphant and Tragic Life of Whitney Houston. This book pulls out the positive lessons that young people can learn from both the triumphant and tragic sides of Whitney Houston's life.

Whitney Houston's body will be laid to rest today, Sunday, February 19, 2012, after a fantastic homegoing service at her home church in New Jersey on Saturday. The church was filled with well-known pastors, singers, musicians, movie directors, actors, and music moguls from different backgrounds and walks of life. They all came not only to celebrate her life, but to celebrate her faith and love for God.

GOSPEL LIGHT MINUTE

Whitney Houston funeral programAllow me to read the words of a song titled "Tomorrow" written and sung by The Winans. I had not heard this song in a long time until Saturday at Whitney Houston's homegoing service.

Jesus said, "Here I stand
Won't you please let me in?"
And you said, "I will tomorrow"

The New York Giants and the New England Patriots will meet today in Indianapolis for Super Bowl 46. And for so many Americans, this is almost the biggest event of the year. But some of the men who play on the field will be quick to tell you that football -- even the Super Bowl -- is not the main thing in life.

THE GOSPEL LIGHT MINUTE X

Rosa ParksProverbs 31:30 states, "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall
be praised".

Rosa Parks was the first woman to lie in state in the Capitol rotunda of the United States of America. Mrs. Parks is the first black woman to be chosen to have a statue in Statutory Hall in Washington, D.C. And she is one of the very few women who has had not just one, not just two, but three funeral services. Why was this humble and quiet lady so praised at the end of her life?
